Elena Loayza Berger develops sculptural and installative works that translate fleeting and elusive emotions into material form. Her practice focuses on moments of heightened perception in which the fragility of existence becomes perceptible. She understands materials as autonomous carriers of meaning; through their combination, she creates dialogic constellations that extend beyond language. For her, working with materials is an experimental process in which certain sensitivities can only be revealed through making. Her works open spaces for individual resonance, inviting viewers to encounter their own emotions and to discover personal connections within unfamiliar contexts.
Elena Loayza Berger was born in 1997 in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany. Since 2021, she has been studying at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Dresden in the class of Prof. Alicja Kwade, which will be represented by Prof. Mandla Reuter in the winter semester 2025/26. She lives and works in Berlin
